My Approach

Some examples of theories and approaches I am particularly drawn to are:

Person Centred Approach

I will always be guided by you, at your pace, with what you feel comfortable with, and work towards building a therapeutic relationship based on respect and trust.

 Attachment Theory

Our experiences in childhood create a blueprint for how we interact with the world and in our relationships. Thinking about how we were taught to attach can provide deep insight into how we relate to people in our adulthood.

Internal Family Systems

IFS is based on the understanding that we are made up of a system of multiple parts that can have conflicting thoughts, opinions, and feelings. Together we can learn to communicate with all these parts compassionately to develop a more solid sense of self, allowing you to make decisions that are aligned with who you truly are.

Gestalt

Difficult experiences can cause us to become stuck, and we can struggle to process our thoughts and feelings. Gestalt encourages looking at the bigger picture to consider what else might be impacting you (things you may not even realise). This process allows us to become 'unstuck', and we can begin to move forward with our lives.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger, loneliness, relationship problems, and work related stress.

“I want to stress how absolutely amazing Shannon has been. She has helped me to begin my healing journey and understand why I am the way I am, and how I can progress from that, I have been very lucky!” – Anonymous, Plymouth.
